The first time I experienced the MS hug I didn't know what it was...I felt sharp pain under my breast above rib cage...it went around to my back side..always one side..at times so painful I cried..
I called my neuro and explained my pain and how uncomfortable I felt all the time... I was so very 'afraid'...he explained the 'ms hug' which led me to do some research...it came and went for a good year...then it came and stayed for over a year...I feel I had a very severe case..this started 2011-2013..it ended and hasn't returned..
I haven't heard of others having this same experience..
I believe it is different for everyone as all symptoms are..it also made my heart rate go up along with a very tight feeling.
So very scary even after being educated about it...
I am so very grateful it hasn't returned..I learned to accept it as well with much of my symptoms...I fight things but with an acceptance - very much a dicomedy so hard to explain...
I pray you get some relief..
I remember my neuro suggested neurontin- an oral drug used for many diagnoses...different mg's for different problems..I didn't take it as with research I learned that they really don't know how this drug works...
Again I am so very grateful with a huge hope it doesn't ever return..I take one moment at a time knowing God is my rock...I turn everything over to him...
Many blessings to you with a hope it gets better for you.
I also remember throughout the hug period, my upper stomach was numb...? anyone else? It felt so strange to rub my tummy and the numbness was so real...!
I get them too. Not as often as in the beginning. I find they happen more often when I take less gabapentin. Xanax helps me relax and they go away faster than without it.
Never 5hought I wouldn't want hugs but D it feels like I'm being ripped in half and hit in the stomach at the same time.
I don't care for these hugs!!!
@grammysluck I had the exact pain under my left breast and into my shoulder. Went to ER. I thought I was having a heart attack. My blood pressure was high too. I had just finished steroid infusions for flare up which I was still recovering from. Never considered MS hug Bc it was only one side. I've had it for a few days at a time off and on since.
MS hugs - yes, seems to go with the territory.
Virtual hugs to make you feel better...! xoxoxoxo
