Multiple spinal taps

Multiple spinal taps

Has anyone ever had multiple spinal tap with different results? I had a spinal tap over 10 years ago that was negative for MS but, wondering if the results can change after time?

I've only had one ~13 years ago. It was negative for the proteins that only a percentage of people with MS have (don't remember what % that is). But… read more

My question is Do u have to have a spinal tap to dx MS? As long as u have enough white matter lesions showing up on the brain MRI?

My question is Do u have to have a spinal tap to dx MS? As long as u have enough white matter lesions showing up on the brain MRI?

I have been told for 20 years (since I been 14) that I have had MS. I do have the symptoms an the brain lesions an then I was told that a year ago I had 2 different spinal results. 98 was postive an a year ago was negative an I get the call 2 days ago that both spinal's were negtive. Is this even possible?

Questionable Diagnosis? 1 lesion? Spinal tap negative, symptoms pain in legs, fatigue and migraine headaches.

A Year ago I had a lot of pain in my legs. I was clumsy. I went to Rheumatoid doctor they diagnosed me with Fibro. 6 months later I was in so much pain and flu like symptoms, I could not get out of bed for a week, my sister who was diagnosed with MS 7 Years ago had to fly to come run my household. I went to a Neurologist who reviewed my MRI of brain and spine. It showed 1 questionable spot so 3months later… read more

I was wondering how many have had a spinal tap and was it positive for ocular bands Igg and Igm. I had one and my ocular bands were negative. My Neurologist says they are usually positive for MS, but 10% of MS parents don't have positive ocular banding. He will not give me MS meds because of this. He wants me 2 go 2 a MS Center at Johns Hopkins for more extensive tests. I do have all the symptoms of MS especially the lesions in my brain and spine. Any help would be greatful. Thanks Teresa

Anyone have their doctor change their ms diagnosis?

Anyone have their doctor change their ms diagnosis?

My doctor told me my symptoms and brain MRI are suggestive of "Clinically definite relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis diagnosis" in writing. He has since done a cervical and thoracic spine MRI that had no lesions and a spinal (I don't know the results yet but one 5 yrs ago was negative ) if these are both negative can he change my diagnosis? I have 15 brain lesions, trigeminal neuralgia, and many vision issues and flairs, all other diseases have been ruled… read more

Is this atypical MS, or something else?

Is this atypical MS, or something else?

I have at least 3 spinal lesions and multiple nonspecific brain lesions. My neurological symptoms are progressing at a disconcerting rate. My csf always comes back negative. Other tests to rule out MS mimics have also come back negative. Has anyone else had this happen to them? Every neurologist, including ones at the Mayo Clinic, are baffled.

Has anyone had their spinal tap help confirm your diagnosis?

Has anyone had their spinal tap help confirm your diagnosis?

I had my spinal tap done a few days ago and I am anxiously awaiting the results because I found out I won't be able to do a second brain MRI and a spinal MRI, and the only one I've done so far was one without contrast and they only found one lesion on the right side of my brain and as far as we know this is more towards the beginning if it is MS so it might be possible that nothing is showing yet , so I'm crossing my fingers that this LP will give us… read more
