This is interesting bc my BF has pointed out to me that I hiccup so much more now that I've been diagnosed....I have wondered if it was related to my MS!

Abby2 let us know what your doc says if you ask!

I believe the hiccups are partly because I swallow too big of pieces of food. Not on purpose, they just slide right down.

I have hiccups, but these days mostly gasping. Not related to eating/drinking, but sometimes when I'm stressed, might even be respiratory induced...after running for example. Not running any more. Anyway, about 10 years ago I had hiccups so bad I sounded more like a horse braying, very embarrassing. I was hospitalized and the ER Dr. said my vocal cords were paralyzed and gave me a high dose of prednisone. The symptoms disappeared. doctors upstairs seemed confused so I went home on the third day. If you google MS hiccups you will see references to MS as a cause. I don't know if it is dangerous. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15560692

I have had MS for 20 yrs, and always get the hiccups. If I get them once I get them 2 more times that day and I do that several times a week. A long time friend and I were at lunch recently and she said i'm going to look that up. She read somewhere that it is related.
