I'm fearing I really might have to file for disability. When you have minor children does that play a role in the amount of disability you are given? If you even are lucky enough to be approved at all?

Most people have to go through several meetings before they are approved. I was told you don't need a lawyer until you reach the stage of going before a judge. I did have a free consultation with a disability lawyer before I started the application, and he gave me some good advice.I was approved after the first application, and I think it was because my neurologist gave a good report, and also my employer wrote a good letter about how hard I tried but I wasn't able to continue working. I hope you have some type of temporary disability plan from your employer to help you through the waiting period for SS disability. I think you have to be disabled 6 months before you can apply for SS, and then you have to wait for hearings and approval. Good luck!

You MUST have a good paper trail. If you don't start building one now. Doctor's, diagnosis, reprimands from work involving your increasing inability to function at your job...must tie in to your MS symptoms...etc.

I was told the amount the minor children are given in a check comes from your check. Then when that child turns 18, it does NOT go back into your check.

I received a check for all four of my children until they turned 18. My youngest son just turned 18 in October.

not just any attorney ...........one that only handles disability cases. If they win they'll take a partition of your retro pay {when you first started noticing symptoms) the rest will be yours.
