Hi, I am new to this! Diagnosed on 11/13/13. I have trouble walking, standing too long & my coordination is off. I go to my neurologist on the 25th to get results from spinal tap & rest of tests to determine what kind of MS I have & what my treatment will be. I would like to know will I ever be able to walk normal & with no pain? Are there any questions I should ask?

It will all depend on your MS type. If it's RRMS, you should be able to get treatment to help. if it's PPMS, like I have, there is no treatment and it just gets worse and worse. Keep us posted on what happens at the neuro! Welcome to the group!!! :)

Don't assume it'll get worse. Positive attitude REGARDLESS of what anyone says goes a long way. I wake up, say to the universe thank you for another opportunity today, and get up out of bed.

Ask what the plan will be. Does it include physical therapy? If they try a drug treatment, how long will you be on it before they consider something else. Everyone has a magic mix of drugs that'll help with the symptoms. What side effects from the drug are expected?

I was in a chair full time and was told by one Neuro I'd never walk again. I moved to a different doc who thru trial and error found the right mix for me. among others I had baclofen added to my regiment. I'm walking now with the help of PT and regular stretching. I have some other braces, but my kids think i look like Iron Man. It keeps my spirits up.

You may have to wait a few weeks to see what the answer is for you since it varies by person. Frustrating but true.

Thanks k3vin_pgh for direction on what to ask my Dr!! I am trying to stay positive being new to MS I guess I am being nieve and hoping that this will get better so I can at least go back to work!! I am a baker & can't work right now cause I can't stand for too long & I don't trust my balance!! All the time in the hospital people would tell me how great I was asking my diagnoses I would think to myself well heck what am I supposed to do crawl into a corner & cry all the time!! I have a beautiful 7 year old daughter who needs me as much as I need her!! Hopefully I won't have to be on a lot of medication!! We will see!!
