What Can I Say To My Doc When He Calls?

A MyMSTeam Member asked a question 💭

Stiil having bad tremors, jumping vision, and vertigo. Made an appt. with neuro to get things rolling to a possible diagnosis - Couldn't get one until Jan 21, so I left a message for him to ask for a spinal MRI since this was not done before. He called my cell phone and left a voicemail asking questions saying, "just making sure we are doing the right thing..." He said he will call again on monday. I am afraid he will want to talk me out of doing anything. He has said before that all my symptoms… read more

Hello to you! You know your body and only you can "feel" what's going on within it. I would make sure your dr has a clear understanding of your symptoms. Convey to him exactly what it is you are experiencing and the tests you would like done. He may have all the fancy degrees but he doesn't know your body as well as you do. If you aren't satisfied with his answers or conclusions, seek a second or even a third opinion. I know when something isn't right in my body and I don't let up until I get the answers I need. I read your story (I'm originally from Roanoke, Va by the way) and in my opinion you and your hubby are bickering about this because he doesn't understand what you are going thru and without a "diagnosis" it's even harder to accept and sympathize. My hubby used to tell me all the time that when I said my eyes hurt or my legs were tingly that it was just in my head.....until I got diagnosed with MS and now he doesn't dare say anything of the sort. Hope this helps a bit! Good luck to you and hope it all works out and you get the answers you need! Like I said, it's your body and you deserve and need answers....don't back down until you get them! Keep me posted and I'm here if you need an ear!

Please make a list while you're at home of things that you noticed that are changing. They change so slowly that sometimes you don't even notice but you will. You need to write them down. Keep them in a diary or write it down on some kind of a document like a legal pattern or something so that when you're talking to your doctor you can bring up bullet points of what's happened to you over the last couple months and what has changed. It's so important

I agree with FancyDiablo2 an MRI will tell them everything.

An MRI is what you need. My Dr. at Vanderbilt said they don’t even use lumbar puncture anymore.
