Should I Just Show Up At Dr Office? What Am I To Do If I Am Experiencing Symptoms And I Don't Want To Appear Like A Crazy Person?
My dr has not called me back yet. I am now having bad tremors and feel weak all over. I feel like just showing up to his office. I would go to the ER, but they will just give me the runaround.
I tried calling another neuroligist's office, but they can't see me until February - later than my Jan 21 appt with my Navy neurologist! What am I to do if I am experiencing symptoms and I don't want to appear like a crazy person?
Do you have a state/teaching hospital near by? Early last year I started passing out a lot. My doctor was writing it off to high blood pressure and the two times it was so bad I had to go to a local hospital they just wrote me out a script for pain medicine (that I couldnt even take, im a stay at home mama with a one year old) and told me to see a regular doctor. In September my doctor finally set me up with neuro but they couldn't see me until February '14 since I was a new patient. By October the spells were up to 7-10 times a day and my husband took me to a state, teaching hospital nearby hoping they would do more. Sure enough they did an EEG and MRI and saw right away I wasn't passing out I was having seizures and my brain was so swollen I had to be on steroids for weeks. When I was discharged I had an appointment made that week with neuro and have been seen at least once every two weeks since. I probably wouldn't be here had we not pushed for someone to check further. Trust your instinct, love! You know your body..who cares what anyone else thinks! You've got to take care of yourself, don't stress about anyone's opinion :)
You are absolutely right you will look like a crazy person go get yourself checked out your MD as none of us are but baby you rather be safe than sorry. I pretty sure if this is what you are feeling you should definitely get checked. Tell your PCP what you have been experiencing and see what happens ask if she/he can schedule you a MRI as that is how DR'S determine if you have lesion and see where that lands you. GOOD LUCK AND BLESSINGS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY
Might consider going to an "urgent care" if available, Probably will get seen sooner. They can refer if they think necessary.
My MS doctor is located at Emory, a 2 hour drive from me, but when Iām having problems or new symptoms, I send a note to him by portal and his PA gets back to me quickly. We do have teleconferences every 6 months where we talk about my problems and then I see him in person every other time.
Tammy, hello, May I suggest ....'Don't even GO THERE'...WHY ARE U WORRYING ABOUT WHAT OTHERS 'WOULD THINK'...Lady, U are who U are..AND should this offend others or appear uncivilized or 'crazy' tough stuff! That's the way the ball bounces w/this 'traveling companion' that is constantly changing. Walk into Doc's office and demand attention NOW!
