It will be 20 years April 15 that I was told I had MS. While taking shorts walks I do fine but I use a cane for long walks. I was hesitate to use one at first but it sure helped me enjoy myself. Now I don't give it a second thought. Don't worry to much about the future as MS affects everyone different. Just enjoy life with or without an aid and don't worry what other people may think.

My place looks like a parking lot lol. I have a rollator, a manual wheelchair and a power chair. I alternate between the 3 depending on the kind of day I'm having. All I can say is, don't worry about what may come because NOW is the most precious thing in our lives. My mom use to say "tomorrow's not promised to us" so try and make the best of it today. I really get what she said. Have a good night.

I was DX 19996 and I am currently walking unassisted.

There have been times when I have needed some assistance (a cane or a chair) after a bad relapse in 2010.

My walking is also hindered by some back problems that have presented themselves of the last couple years. When my back is not hurting I can keep up with my 8 year nieces as long as it is not too hot.

I do move considerably slower than I did 18 years ago but so do many others that don't have MS.

I see you were just DX a few month ago and would tell you to not worry about what "could happen" and enjoy all that you are able to do today.

I've had MS 21+ years and I walk with a walker....just started to use it a few months ago during a week long bout with vertigo. I have continued using it because I walk better with it...

Very few things in life happen as you expect them to. Don't worry about things that may or may not happen. However when you have the opportunity to arrange physical things to make life easier, do it.
