Is Famprodyne Any Good For Improving Walking
About a year ago I was told by my neuro that Famprodyne capsules (two a day)would improve the walking speed and balance. This is a drug made in Ireland and costs about $600 a month in Australia. Unfortunately it is not subsidised by the government. So it is quite expensive. I have been taking it for a year and have not noticed any significant improvement. Has anyone used this drug and if so have you noticed any improvement.
Hey all- AMPYPRA was too expensive But my MS Dr was good enough subscribe something similar it is a compound drug so a compound pharmiscist (one is close to me) does it for me- it's called 4-Aminopyride and I can tell a difference in not so much walk in but my fatigue is not as bad!
if you don't make enough money I think it's under 25,000 a year you can get Amprya for free or a discount from Amprya there phone number is 1-866-758-7072
Here in the US it is called Ampyra, is manufactured by Accorda, and improves walking and mobility for a large number of members here. There is a lot of info about Ampyra in the Q+A section here, but 1st we should make sure that we are talking about the same drug.
I'm in the US and am on a Medicare Advantage plan through Humana. My doc has to fill out the prior authorization info every January, for the name brand. I've been on Ampyra for nearly 10 years. I belive that Ampyra + Keisempta keeps me out of the freaking wheelchair. I can walker longer now and other than some extremely painful neuropathy areas, I'm doing quite well. I have PPMS.
Do you have to wear it 24/7 ?
( all day, every day ? )
