I have recently started to experience severe pain in my feet when I try to walk, after sitting or laying down. It makes it very difficult to walk, for the first two or three mins. Any one else?

The immense pain in feet under and inside the heels is called Plantar fasciitis and yes it is a direct result of MS. It's partly inflammation of the nerves and combo of muscle spasticity and shortening of tendons from inflammation. I have found a great biokenetisist. She gave me plastic cold drink bottles. The 500ml ones with frozen water inside. Frozen solid. Sit comfy on your favourite couch and roll the cold bottle under your feet from toes to heels. You will feel immediate relief. Then I started thinking ok... there must be something else that will work... and yes there is. Just like you get deep heat spray for muscle injuries, you get deep freeze. Ask someone to spray it under your feet and between your toes. It cools down inflammation immediately and your pain will subside after 3 or for treatments. Although Plantar fasciitis require other treatments like shoe inserts to lift your foot bridge and support it. That way the feet will learn to walk feet in the right position and the pain stays away longer. Many of our symptoms are much like other medical conditions but is caused by MS directly. But often the same treatment helps. Like optic neuritis... treatment is 5 days IV cortisone and it works.

When standing after lying/sitting for more than 5 min. my feet feel like they are swollen and freezer burnt while stepping on hundreds of needles. In reality they are not swollen, warm to touch and no needles anywhere, just ultra hypersensitive. For me, it has either gotten a little better over the past 20ish years or I am use to it.

Mcohen54. AND what you DO feel is exaggerated pain and almost unbearable. Have had MS for 45 yrs. Am 77 yrs now and moving along. You must learn to adjust and adapt to your pain and discomfort with ALL you have. Very difficult but you and God can do it. Blessings to you my friend.

Its called neuropathy! Sometimes my feet feel like I walked on hot coals & other times they feel as if they've been in a freezer! The worst is that most of each foot is numb so I cant feel much.
