Anyone know much about spinal MRIs? I am headed to my regular GP tomorrow to see if he will give me a referral to get a spinal MRI done.
I am seeing a neurologist and am meant to be getting a MRI with contrast of my brain but I wanted to hold off on that one because of my anxieties about getting the contrast put into my body....I do believe I'm just coming out of a relapse and anything I take right now makes my symptoms worse.
I'm hoping just my regular gp will be able to give me a referral… read more
Hey everyone I will be getting a spinal MRI tomorrow without contrast. I spoke with the radiologiy clinic and she said that patients looking for ms generally have spinal MRI with contrast.
So my question is has anyone on here had a spinal mri without contrast that showed lesions ? I really hope that this scan finds something I'm sick of being treated like im an idiot and don't have ms. I feel very strongly that I do and I would love to get treated better by the medical professional team. Can someone please give me there personal account of a spinal MRI thanks
The contrast is nothing to worry about, my friend! It goes in through a simple iv, taking about 30 seconds to administer. It IS radioactive gadolinium, it completely passes through your kidneys within 24 hours usually more like 12. It does make your urine glow green a time or two, which is admittedly a bit scary the first time, but then your urine will return to the usual pale pale yellow to almost clear of normal health and you're no longer irradiated! Nothing for you to worry about, seriously! It lets the radiologist view active AND non active lesions in both spine and brain!
Oh no this was just for a spinal cord mri without the dye
I will probably do the other one late next month some time
Not that big of a deal, right, Jessica? I'm proud of you for dealing with the fear and anxiety leading up to it!
Thank u everyone ...I did have my mri today and I will get the results in a weeks time
