Ask your neuro about rutuximab and if you can get insurance to cover it. It is basically the same as ocremiizulmab (sp?). The latter has been shown to help in SPMS. The drug companies didn't continue with rutuximab trials cuz it is generic soon, so they tweaked it and made the ocremiizulmab drug which is still in the trial stage and awaiting FDA approval.

My husband had secondary progressive MS for many years. On Rebif and is maintaining well. His main problem was urinary infections. Did straight cath to make sure he emptied. Was getting worse infections from catheter. Off catheter now for 3 months and got a negative urine couture yesterday HAPPY DAYS!

I have SPMS also. I have never taken anything for then aspirin or a mulit- vitamin until now. Now I'm 6 different meds most two times a day. My dr. does have me on Copaxone in the hopes it will slow some of that is going on. Have not been on it longer enough to know if it's helping.
