I have been on Copaxone since April, was dx in March. Had an MRI yesterday that shows 7 new lesions but I don't have any new symptoms, has anyone else experienced this?
I have 15 lesions since my last MRI. The only medicine my neurologist has given me is Gabapentin for the pain. It appears that what you experience depends on where your lesions are located.
@A MyMSTeam Member I also wanted to say that at diagnosis, I had four brain lesions and one c spine lesion, and my only symptoms were from the c spine one. I also had a new lesion on my spine last year, but had zero symptoms. Sometimes it matters where exactly the lesions are located and how much damage has been done to the myelin. Glad you do not have new symptoms! Keep us posted.
Thanks all! I was able to get in to see the doc Thurs. so we will see.
Ok, Copaxone takes about 6 months to reach full effectiveness. DId you have contrast with this last MRI? If so, were the lesions new or old? I started Copaxone in April and had my MRI in November. I had one small Thoracic lesion but it wasn't recent. I didn't have any new brain lesions since starting Copaxone. My dr. feels that the medication is working and that the spinal lesion happened during an active period before the medication kicked in. So, we are going to do another MRI in April to see where we are. If there are more lesions, then we move to another DMT.
However, the amount of lesions you have had since starting seems like a lot. I would discuss other options with your doctor.
