My husband is going to have to file for SSI disability soon. He was DX about 2-3 years ago after 5 years of probably what most everyone on here has dealt with. He had a major heart issue that really helped us deplete savings. We live in Georgia and live a simple lifestyle but it takes both incomes to pay bills. I used binder and binder they are wonderful firm. They take care of everything and once approved you will be paid on your average wages per year and receive those wages from the time you applied back as far as 2years.Then you will start receiving your monthly benefits around your birthdate. Hope this helps
When you file, you must answer the questions from the point of view of your worst day. A witness has to submit a questionnaire as well. What happened with me is that I filled out the form and my witness worked with what I had written.Do not discount any moments of anxiety or depression. Just be brutally honest.
Don't give up hope I been thru that situation and it's not pretty
@A MyMSTeam Member Yes there is government housing here. Trust me, you don't want to live there. This might turn out to be a good thing. Both my kids are in college in Florida & at my oldest sons apartment he has 3 bedroom, 2 full bathrooms, living room dining room combo, kitchen & he has a washer & dryer in his unit. Yes he shares it with 2 other students but if you add up all the rents it's only $950 a month.
