Anyone see the commercial for Tecfidera and throw up?!! Why don't they get real MS patients to "play" the roles.
I've gotten so many remarks from people asking if I'm on Tecfidera or Gilenya, because they saw the commercials and how great everyone looked and moved around, that it must work, and I should be on one of them. Then I explain that I've been on one, probably going to start the other, but here is what they do, the side effects, and what they will probably do for me. I get stunned faces. People want miracles for me, and I wish they existed. These commercials don't help anyone.
It saddens me to watch that commercial, It makes people that don't have MS think that everyone who does, just needs to take a pill and we will all be better. This commercial is very misleading. And it basically misrepresents all of us living with this horrible, incurable disease. Like we need another thing to have to defend ourselves about. I say WOW.
Agreed. I have an issue in general with pharm companies putting out commercials anyway. The choice of what drug is right for a patient should be best left to the physician and patient themselves. Marketing them like its a fast food interferes with that dynamic but promoting fasle perceptions in the name of profit. Particularly for MS drugs since the disease itself is so misunderstood anyway. We all have to battle the "but you look so good" comments and this commercial just feeds that by making MS look like a walk in the park. Plus, for those on the drug, we are told not to expect it to make us feel better but rather just decrease relapse rate and time to disability. Both good endpoints, but a person who believes it will make them miraculously feel better, will think the drug isnt working when it fact it may be. Having proper expectations about what a drug will and wont do is important to success with that drug. Long story short, such commercials are irresponsible period.
I had a conversation with my neurologist about the commercial. He said he finds the commercial offensive, as so many of us struggle and the lady in the commercial is all over the place. I never thought about it before, but I see his point.
So agree, I also was in big trouble with tecfidera , plz listen to what she is saying. This medicine lowers your T counts so low that your chances of getting a really bad infection is so great.
