Yep I agree. We were married by the Justice if the Peace 36 years ago and debt free. My husband is way better at managing $$ than I am and due to his diligence to save we now own 3 properties and the only bills are essentials like electricity, gas, garbage etc. Oh and can't forget about the property TAXES!! If I didn't have MS and the treatments were not so costly I could enjoy what we have strived to work for all our lives and quit my job. Sadly that's my reality but I try not to dwell on that. Think positive, we only have one life to live and I try to live mine to the fullest every day. 👍

@A MyMSTeam Member Over rated is exactly right. Our grandson married four years ago and granddaughter two years ago. Both had very nice weddings for 5 to 7 thousand. They borrowed the money to pay for their own weddings. They did not ask for any help from the parents. Hence no tension or competing between the families. The weddings are nearly paid off and they now have credit at the bank to buy things that will last longer than 1 day.
My husband and I both lived alone before we were married. I did rescue two dogs so we didn't need any more pets OR gifts. We live on the West Coast and I am from the East Coast and my husband is from the Midwest. So we had our parents and our best man and maid of honor join us along with their significant others for a very small wedding in a tiny wooden chapel in South Lake Tahoe. I did not wear a wedding gown but a very nice white suit with a very pretty top and lace hat. Instead of a large wedding, we decided to use our money to purchase our first home. Think about what you BOTH want. Best wishes!!!!!!
