My fiancé noticing my memory declining., says only happens to him. I don't even remember talking about whatever but can retain old stuff. Sometimes I don't remember what I say, that's happening much more frequently! I remember parts of recent conversations. I do not believe its selective consciously. I get so frustrated.
My memory gets bad with fatigue. I find that writing things down helps me to remember. Going over my day as it happens really helps. Being aware. Being present.
I've had to compensate over the years for not only my loss of short term memory but also for my husband's. Before camping or trips I've aways made lists of things to take or do before leaving the house. I have only a few places to put my keys and so on. One thing I always managed to remember is my kids, not so for my husband, who's left them at community college a few times at like 10pm. He claimed he couldn't leave work, but it was the kids who called me to get them. Conversations are another story. He would claim he told me something and claim that I just forgot, but since I put events in my calendar on my phone, I have come to realize he thinks about telling me but forgets to actually doing so. My point is that having a poor memory and other people begin to make you doubt yourself, so you have to realize what is really important and let go of what isn't. Some things just aren't priority & women and men have different prioities. Obviously anything that is really important will stick with you and find a way to rise to the surface of your brain fog. I was supposed to pick up my granddaughter from school one day because my daughter was going to court. I had my daughter's court date in my phone, but I didn't list picking up my granddaughter. Three words popped into my mind as relevant, "Friday" & "early release" & since I consider my granddaughter an important subject she's never far from my conscious memory, so those those three words I associated with her saved me from forgetting to pick her up on time. I remember a lot of old stuff by association with important dates or events. I'm sure it doesn't just happen to your fiancé, maybe you could ask others to share their experiences with your memory issues with your fiancé...show him he's not alone.
Write everything down. I would be lost without my kitchen legal pad.
@A MyMSTeam Member Sometimes it feels like I'm translating from Spanish to English, the words themselves translate but not the order..."black cat" becomes "cat black." Or like verbalizing speed reading, skipping over simple words.."the sky is blue" becomes "sky blue."
We're just a hot mess lol
I think the most frustrating is dyslexic speech. I flip words in sentences as I speak sometimes or just skip words altogether.
Funny @A MyMSTeam Member lol you can answer again because we get you ♡
