Members exploring stem cell research for MS found promising data, with one member noting that AHSCT shows roughly 80-87% of patients staying relapse-free or avoiding further progression at four years. Several members shared that the treatment, which pairs stem cells with chemotherapy to reset the immune system, is available in Mexico and through U.S. trials like the MIST trial in Chicago, though trial requirements are strict. A recurring theme was frustration that the treatment isn't more widely available in the U.S., with many urging earlier use and greater insurance coverage.

The IMPORTANT thing to remember with stem cells is that they alone is only temporary. Stem cells need to be done with chemo. I will doing it in Puebla, Mexico. The over all success rate of HSCT is in the low 90's. Mid 80% get some functions back, but that is not the intent of the treatment. It is to stop the underlying of MS therefore stopping the progression. Improvements on disabilities depends on if the damage is permanent or not.

There is a local man here that went to Mexico and had the procedure and had great results!
I will wait till it comes to the US myself. Hope it comes soon!

To add to the previous list of things needed to qualify for the trial is you need to have relapsed 2x that needed steroids. That's why I wasn't accepted. Because it's a trial, the requirements are so many. Its almost like you need to get worse before they can help. I have noticed that people who get this done have only one regret. That is that they didn't do it sooner. Here is an interesting read on this topic. I will be doing this treatment in April. I tried to get this treatment here in the USA but nothing. The percentages back up my previous answer.
