Before and after my diagnosis we kept running across information regarding the link between type 1 diabetes and MS. However I have found very few others like me. I'm curious to know how many of us are out there and how do you feel your diseases affect each other?

My endo is the best. She is very knowledgable about CKD and MS and is always watching out for everything. My neuro has no personality and writes no scripts at all (Florida laws, etc) and sends me to a Pain Mgmt guy. Lately I haven't been even filling the scripts as I have been having much less pain (except the nagging jag pain since age 17).

Considering that there is a link between the two, and share some of the same protein markers. One would think that more research would be done on it. My biggest complaint is how my Endo and Neuro don't communicate at all. Yes, they are separate diseases but they are sharing the same body. They both can affet some of the same systems, a little team work would go a long way.

So I came back to this after remembering something. A few years ago there was a study done in November of that year that stated that both diabetes and MS were caused by a virus that looks identical in test tubes. I don't think I should post a link to it but if you could research and find it...I think you would find it useful.

I have both and so did my mother. All females on maternal side. They say one autoimmune disease begets another. When my blood sugars are out of control, my symptoms are worse so keeping my blood sugars under control helps so much. (esp with leg cramping and muscle spasms)

My neuro offers the answer that issues are diabetes related! My endo just asks how is the ms? Next!!!
Do I sound sarcastic? Where is dr Welby? He always had time to converse with patients! As long as his hour long show would allow that is!!
