Has anyone ever had it and is it related to MS? I can't ever find any info about a connection.

Did you mean Labyrinthitis ?

As I understand it some MS patients suffer from Vestibular Neuritis ie: a problem with the nerves in the inner ear, in the same way that many (myself included) suffer from Optical Neuritis. There is currently no cure for the Optical variety and it's something I have learnt to live with. I suspect it will be similar with the nerves in the ear The problem with Optical Neuritis is that the optic nerve still works fine but the point where it interacts with the brain there is damage.I have no idea if this is the same with the nerve in your ear....sounds like a quiz your Neurologist question, unless anybody in this forum has experience to add.

Problems with the ear and balance, is often initially attributed to that by doctors before an MS diagnosis is suspected.

I have taken drugs that were supposedly to help my balance, drugs like Stemetil which is also used as a treatment for Labyrinthitis. Stemetil is basically an anti-emetic sometimes used in severe sea sickness, my experience with it was that it didn't stop me falling over it merely made it funny when I did...LOL

Stemitil in MUCH larger doses is used to treat Schizphrenia and other forms of Mania.

I had this a couple of years ago, but wasn't given any info about it. I can't help but wonder if it was a sign of ms and if so could have had my diagnosis then.
