A MyMSTeam Member asked a question 💭
Brownsburg, IN

OK my question is this, I talked to my attorney about my case and she informed me that it has reached the desk of the judge now again continue to wait. She also said that I don't qualify for disability because I didn't make enough but she said that I qualify for ssi since I could have worked full time and I did work after the date she mentioned. So now we are appealing that during the hearing. But y question is how hard is it to get approved for ssi compared to disability or are they the same… read more

Social security it based on your work credits. If you do not have enough years of work you will get SSI. If you do have the credits you will receive SSD. The income you receive from SSI depends also on the your spouses income where SSD doesn't. Go to Social Security .gov, there you can get a lot more info. I hope this helps.

When my doctor neurologist at @SF MS hospital said I could no longer work, they helped me with SS disability paperwork and within a year I was approved. I was told that when the neurologist(s) at the MS clinic suggest you no longer can work they have a 99% approval rate from SS. See a neurologist that has MS qualifications. I also saw a neuro-psych. Physician who had input on my not being able to work.

Hi @A MyMSTeam Member I have been applying for 3 years now, and was just wondering after reading your comment What doctor do you have to go to so they can say you can't work. I would love to work but I am always in pain and pain med. Don't help! I look fine but I hurt from my head to my toes. I hate that I go in there and would love for them to say that it is just impossible for you to work, but I don't wont them to think I am just trying to say there is nothing wrong with you. I go to the chiropractor 3 times a week now, i do Botox, every 3 months and i go to a therapist 1 a week, I just started acupuncture a little over a week ago. I am waiting I hope to see a judge some time next month. Tired of waiting and Mad because, I would Love to go to work, This school year i am going to volunteer at my girls school to get me out of the house.. Thanks Sheri

It's hard to get either one. Been appealing since 2010. That's even with a lawyer. It's definitely a waiting game.
