Plegridy

Plegridy

I am just newly diagnosed and have lesions only in my spine- my brain is clear. My doctor wants to start me on Plegridy but from what I'm reading it's only for brain lessons. Anyone have any good ideas?
thanks SO much! kinda lost here....

@A MyMSTeam Member...what I know about biogen products avonex and plegrity...they treat MS...it does not matter spine or brain....is all central nervous system...,

For the 15 yrs I've known this disease, I've not know drugs to differential a section of the nervous system... I've been avonex users and I'm getting ready to switch to plegrity...good luck with drug decision.

not sure if you've made the switch yet but thought I'd follow up with this: I had my 1st (1/2) dose 2 weeks ago and am getting ready for the 3/4 dose this Tuesday. I gave myself the shot at 4 (easy peasy) and at 9 I told my family that I must be in the lucky 1/2 who don't get the flu like side effects, felt great other than a super sore back- but that's ben an issue forever. By 10 I was shaking like a leaf in bed. I wanted to see what I was really up against so I didn't take anything and I made it thru, miserable but thru. The fact that I knew I wasn't actually sick and wasn't worried about spreading germs thru the family was a help also knowing it would be over in 12 hours. tho in truth it took more like 24 to feel normal and that with a fair amount of DayQuil. Once I work up to the full dose I'm in a study to take prednisone with the plegridy which supposedly eliminates the flu symptoms which is part of why I'm really trying to power thru to see what the drug is like on it's own so for now, I'm prepping the family and getting rides for the kids lined up and will just plan to sleep all day Wednesday- not so bad in the scheme of things.....! I'm curious to see if my left hand continues to weaken with this next shot. My main symptom is weakness in the left side and I noticed that I had a very hard time typing in the hours after the flu set in and that hasn't really come back fully yet, likely coincidence but I'll be watching to see if it gets worse yet.....

thanks! just now seeing this, clearly i have lots to learn both about the disease and this website :p Oddly enough I just today spoke with someone at Biogen and got on the free direct program since my insurance company twice denied the plegridy as being too experimental. So now I'm hoping to be on it by Thanksgiving. we will see what we will see.... ;)
