Members responded with compassion and practical ideas to a question about managing intense MS-related fatigue that makes it hard to function. Several members shared prescription medications that have helped them, including Modafinil, Amantadine, and Ritalin, while also noting that some medications like high-dose gabapentin can actually worsen fatigue and may be worth discussing with a doctor. A recurring theme was the importance of listening to your body, with members also suggesting natural approaches like Vitamin D, B12, protein shakes, leafy greens, and allowing yourself to rest without guilt.

I eat 1-2 cups of spinach every day for breakfast. In the afternoon, I eat 1-2 cups of kale. My greens give me energy, better than anything else. If I miss either, I notice a huge difference in my energy level.

I use genesis pure-energy powdered drink mix. i drink it once a day. keeps me going doesn't give me the energy drink jitters and crash. its a mite expensive though. But cheaper then meds and nutritious.

@MsJewls i have the same issue with my fatigue. I asked the same question awhile back. I researched alot of them. The Modafinil seems to have awesome reviews from MS ppatients. I do know adderal works well, but it's very additive! I see my pain management doc today and the Modafinil is what I'm asking for..
Hope this helps some! (((HUGS)))

I have taken the modafinil for years. Tried amantadine but got severe headaches and wasn't as good as the modafinil for me . I also take 1200mcg of B12 and two Vitamin D daily. It's important that you rest. Listen to your body. At one time that's all I did was sleep. I couldn't even hold my head up or drive my standard stick shift. Got my rest and traded in my standard for an automatic. I've slowed down and try to eat healthier. I still have days where I just rest but it makes a difference than fighting the fatigue. Ask for modafinil....I hope it works for you.
