It sounds like you are beginning to have urine retention. It is a side effect of MS and there is nothing to stop it, other than (possibly) Botox injections. I had the injections three or four times and got some relief, but ultimately began to self Cath. It is so automatic with me, I really never even think about it. If you have not already done so, please do see a urologist as quickly as possible. You can go into full urine retention and I know from past experience it is excruciatingly painful. Good luck!

Yes, MS, and UTI will follow if you are not emptying your bladder. I actually had to go to PT at the Urology office to learn how to "relax" enough to allow my bladder to empty. Bottom line, don't push, your not having a baby, it's the opposite, you are suppose to relax. But, I would look for other symptoms to start popping up. My bladder problem was relapse related.

Yes, this could be MS related. In late 2010 I started having trouble peeing and by February 2011 I was unable to pee at all because my MS had shut down by bladder and the urine had backed up into my kidneys causing me to have chronic kidney disease. I had to use a catheter and in 2014 I had a super pubic catheter tube put in because I was having too much irritation from the regular indwelling catheter. Then in 2019 when my nurse tried changing it, she wasn't able to insert the new one and I went to the E.R. and they couldn't get it inserted either. So, we made the decision to try me without it to see how I did and to this day I am still catheter free but have begun having some problems with peeing again. Also, because I am either in bed or in my power w/c I have developed kidney stones and have had them quite a few times over the past 3-4 years. Twice while having them, I went septic and the first time the doctors weren't sure if I was going to live through it and told me so. I had never experienced this before and yes it was scary because I became very confused and then passed out. Thankfully, my Lord sent me to the hospital where I received the best possible help and made a complete recovery.
