Neurotin Or Lyrica???

A MyMSTeam Member asked a question πŸ’
Edneyville, N.C

I'm having a lit of pain lately..not ure if it's MS or fibromyalgia. My family dr told me to read up on lyrica and neurotin and see which one i wanted to try. Which has worked best for you? Also I have been losing weight and do not want to take anything that piles it back on. Did either drug cause a lot of weight gain? Thanks bunches

I can only comment on the lyrica. My dr pushed for me to take more and more of it (as it was not working), until we reached a pretty high dosis. Still didn't work, plus I didn't like the side effects it was giving me. So I went off it, and this was absolutely the worst drug to wean off of. Strange brain zaps, dizziness, insomnia. It took me more than half a year to get that stuff out of my system. I really feel like it messed up my brain!

Thanks for sharing your experience! My tiredness is not more since neurontin (gabapentin) and it isn't drowsiness. My fatigue is that lead in veins, cork,of energy gone that been familiar a long time, pre-meds. Afternoon nap usuallynrenews me. 😊

Hi, I have been prescribed neurontin ( gabapentin) since 2006. Over time my system has become immune to the drowsyness that comes with it. No nap needed. I went up on the drugs dosage originally to get better pain relief, then reduced it as I thought it was too high. My dr worked with me to get the right balance of pain relief vs dosage . Otherwise no real side effects.

Don't know how much you take. Just a few is not enough. You start slowly at 50mg. I did that. 50mg for 1st week. Didn't help enough. Saw dr and bumped to 100mg 2x daily. Started working then bumped to 200mg 2x daily. Still gets some pain and neuropathy is good. Going to ask to bump some more.

I have taken a few lyrica after my cervical fusion and discectomy but wasn't on it long enough to see side effects. Thanks for your help..i have been leaning more towards lyrica. If i do i may have more questions for you. Thanks so much. Have a great night:)
