The pilot study in the link is being conducted in Canada. Not familiar with Canada's process to get medical use approval. If it's anything remotely like the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) process it can take years.

It's important to understand that though the U.S. FDA signed an arrangement with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and the Department of Health Canada (Health Canada) recognizing each other’s food safety systems as comparable to each other, that doesn't mean that the FDA's approval requirements for medical devices is comparably to that of Health Canada. The device would most likely have to go through rigorous trials in attempt to get approved by the U.S. FDA which can also take years.

PONS is a part of the brain that serves as a message station between several areas of the brain. The PONS device is a Portable Neuromodulation Stimulator and is not available for medical treatment.

Back in November 3, 2015 the manufacturer of this device announce a pilot study with regards to MS.
