I have to go get blood work done today to see if I'm JCV positive. I'm really nervous about it! If I am positive then what? I am on Tecfidera, so we will see!
I am also on Tecfidera, been on it for over a year now. I get my blood checked every 3 months to make sure my blood count is where it should be. I am also JVC positive but my Neurologist isn't too concerned about it because it is low enough not to worry about it (so he says).
I was on Tecfidera for over three years before I became positive for John Cunninghams virus..damn John. Anyway I had to stop taking it. I was very bummed out and had a bit of a relapse shortly after. I'm now on Gilenya and that seems to be doing the trick, but I don't think I feel as good as I did when I was on Tecfidera. But the good thing about this dumb disease, if there can be a good thing, is that they research the hell out of it and there is always a new medicine coming out. FYI, they usually test you periodically for JCV while youre on Tecfidera. Don't stress, there are a lot of other options!!
My Mom who also has MS tested JVC Positive from Tecfidera after it gave Her the Shingles and they pulled Her off for Three MOnths and then will put Her on a new Drug.
