Hi, I have read about Wahls protocol. It is said to revers MS symptoms. My wife is newly diagnosed, thus can anyone feedback if it really works.
Appreciating the feedback.
I have followed the Wahls protocol for 6 months now. I think any diet that focus's on clean eating, fruits and veggies will only help. It has helped clear my head, lose some weight and perhaps boost my mood.
I've been trying a Paleo diet for the last six months which is similar and that plus exercise has helped me a lot. I still need my cane and walker but I'm a lot stronger than I was and can go longer than I used to before I need a break.
That's what I started with and I found it pretty simple and effective. I then went more the Paleo route and have now landed on the MITO plan. They are all somewhat similar. I'm taking a class right now at Stanford where we are taking food plans like these and tailoring them for our individual diseases and symptoms.
I absolutely swear by this protocol! It has helped me with brain fog, fatigue and just over all feeling better. All natural, no sugar, no wheat and no dairy. Not as difficult as it sounds. Her cook book is great! Never a dull meal.
Hi @A MyMSTeam Member.
There is a doctor named Dr. Terry Wahls. She was diagnosed with MS in 2000. She followed medication until 2006 (I think). On the contrary, her health condition was steadily declining and the disease developed into secondary progressive MS. She became almost handicapped.
In 2006 she started focusing on just healthy nutrition. She followed a strict diet that contained no processed foods. Upon aompletion of her first year after following her diet, she was able to ride her bike for miles.
She released a book describing this diet named "Wahls protocol".
