Really depends on what you want if you are incapacitated

A living will guides the doctors & nurse on your wishes for treatment such as a breathing tube, surgeries, resuscitation, etc. This can take the load off love ones saying no or yes to suggestions how to treat you & how far to go. The problem is it has to be available or brought with you to hospital. This doesn’t always get done & Drs will go ahead & do what they deem right. Also if family doesn’t want to follow your wishes & you can’t speak they might get their way, as they are the ones around to sue. It’s good to do anyway as a means of communication to love ones of your intentions.and to talk about a difficult subject. IMHO only as a senior, widowed ,white woman, retire Nurse withMS

Your power of attorny is actually a stronger document holding more weight than anything assuming your poa knows your wishes and will speak appropriately for you. A living will usually only covers basics like “if there is no chance of recovery” etc. problem is, most acute illnesses are not that black and white and require a human being using judgement based on the unique circumstances a critical illness will bring, hence POA for medical decisions carrying much more weight. If you have a durable poa for medical decisons than you do not need a separate living will. Even if you have a living will, your poa will likely still need to make a decision on your behalf. Does that make sense?

I see everybody here has their own interpretations About How to go about taking care of your property and your person If and when it becomes necessary to do so. I recently went through A Situation Where an amount of money was left behind for me and my sister. It was done legally on paper Through a benefit office in the city. But I still had to go to the courts To take care Of the business at hand.
The only advice you should Follow Is to go to The civil courts in your city And find out exactly The requirements They need for you to Follow For you To do exactly what you intend to do with your Property. No matter where you live Every city is a little different and their words make a big difference on a legal document. Do not take this lightly. That's why the lawyers Get to make so much money.
God bless stay strong
