Hello to my team, and to all my other fellow warriors on MyMSTeam reading! 💪 I would love for you to tell me the most useful reading material(s) you have found on the subject of MS. Websites, blogs, peer-review articles, books...any source of information that you have found to be of high quality, validating, challenging to mainstream misconception, useful, insightful, practical, etc. Writing backed up by scientific investigation is particularly of interest, as are lengthier sources such as… read more
I've always subscribed to the idea that animals eat when they have food and don't eat when they don't--like early humans--and that fasting is a normal part of life; not the "3 meals a day" model.
@A MyMSTeam Member I am enjoying this one is well. I appreciate @A MyMSTeam Member pointing me in the direction of Dr. Jelinek. I am an ethical vegan and am for that reason a little hesitant about Wahl, but I am still going to read the book. Paleo is certainly far healthier than the average American @ diet and geared toward whole food and increased veggie intake. I appreciate that most people find the vegan lifestyle difficult. Like you I have largely led a very healthy lifestyle, only to find myself increasingly more sick and pretty certain I have MS. I do have to say that a gf diet cured a long standing chronic condition of mine with autoimmune components, and I highly recommend that approach to anyone suffering systemic inflammation. My next goal is to kick refined sugar to the curb completely.
I've been reading Jelinek's "Overcoming MS" book, "MS and (lots of) Vita D" about the Coimbra protocol and I also will be reading the Wahls protocol. This is all so new to me and I am trying to read everything I can and I am now amping up Omega 3's, Vita D, B-complex and Co-Q10 vitamins.
What puzzles me is that there is so much discussion in the Jelinek and Wahl book about food overcoming MS. I have eaten organic, healthy, low trans fat, good healthy fats, vegs, fruit, lean meats, occasional red meat and lots water for 20 years and my blood pressure is low, cholesterol is perfect, active and strong, weight ideal (5'5" and 110 lbs) since I was a teenager etc. and super healthy all of my life and then suddenly...MS diagnosis!
Anyone else reading these books or have thoughts on different protocols? I'm supposed to start MS drugs in a week and I am terrified of the side effects.
@A MyMSTeam Member Thank you for these. I sure found juice fasting useful. I am trying to gear myself up for another soon. I’m not eating much anyway these days so I might as well. 🤷🏻♀️ It’s so much work but I found it so worthwhile.
@A MyMSTeam Member Do you have any good sources to share on fasting and MS?
Does anyone have a good book/audible to read /listen to, or a recommendation for a movie or series ?
