How many lesions do you have and how offen do you get new ones? Ive gotten two new lesions in 10 years. Is this good or bad? When do you change medicines?
I have about 10 on the brain and "subtle scattered" on the spine. I e had MS for 21 years. Unfortunately, any knowledgeable neurologist will tell you that you can't judge the severity or disability effects by the number of lesions. It all depends on which areas of the brain are affected and how the person's symptoms present. Its not really something where you can compare 2 people with the same number of lesions and see that they will be the same symptom and disability wise.
My last MRI said 11, but I counted 17. I think they left out the “pin point” lesions but they matter to me!
2 of the 11 reported were new and developed at some time between December 2017 and now.
Im always told "numerous" until I ask what that means.
I started with "numerous on spine" one on brain. One year later spine stable but a total of 5 on brain. If theres more in a month, which would make it 18 months after starting meds, I have to change meds.
I'm waiting on the results of the latest MRI, but in Feb I had 11 lesions. I was diagnosed in 2014 and had 8 lesions. I'm not an expert but I'd say 2 in 10 years isn't bad!
