Members connected over the question of whether splitting and peeling fingernails are linked to MS, with many sharing that they do experience this frustrating issue and are uncertain whether it stems from MS itself, medications, or aging. A recurring theme was the benefits of Biotin, with several members sharing that their neurologists recommended it as part of their MS care, noting improvements in nail strength and hair thinning, though some cautioned that high doses can interfere with blood test results. Several members also suggested practical tips like four-sided nail buffers with cuticle oil, flaxseed oil, nail hardener, and trimming nails before they split.

Probably so, but I am crazy about having good hair, skin & nails so I’m always looking for fixes!!! Go to Walgreens, CVS, Ulta and get one of the four sided nail file/buffers. Go through all four stages and add cuticle oil on your nail before step four and it will be like you have new nails!!! Mine had terrible ridges and were constantly peeling, now I ❤️ Them.

My 1 nail always splits. BECAUSE OF nail polish and nail polish remover. NOT related to MS and Tysabri 100% I stopped painting my nails and started drinking 1 tsp of flaxseed oil. Problem gone :)

@A MyMSTeam Member maybe you need a higher dose to effect the thinning hair?? I had thinning hair, a receding hairline and was developing a small bald spot. Immediately after I started taking 7,500 mcg (micrograms) a day of Biotin, I started growing new hair, and it is constantly still growing new hair.

Yes. I take biotin daily and nails are healthier and stronger. Now if my hair would stop thinning.
