My neurologist nurse said with the dosage i take (3×s per day) that it couldn't cause weight. Anyone have problems with weight gain on gabapentin?
Thanks
It's known to cause weight gain
I’ve been in Gabapentin 3x a day for 6 years with no weight gain.
"During studies of the medication gabapentin, up to 2.9 percent of adults taking gabapentin experienced weight gain, compared with just 1.6 percent of adults not taking it. In studies of amitriptyline, patients had both weight gain and weight loss, so it is not possible to attribute this effect to the medication."
I take 600 mg. 3x/day and my weight had been completely stable until the past several months. I have now lost 25 lbs. unintentionally and did not need to lose that! I am trying to get some more meat on my bones.
@A MyMSTeam Member I hope I can do the same! I'd lost a little over 20lbs(50 is the goal) but I can feel I've gained some of that back sense being on it.
Thank you for your response. :)
My neurologist freely admits that gabapentin causes weight gain. She was actually impressed i was able to lose weight while still being on it.
