I have been on Tecfidera for 4 years and it has been very good for me. Pretty much stabilized any progression and is holding well. Only problem I have right now is even though I have authorization through 2020 - The big $$ insurance companies do not want to provide it as it is too expensive for them.
Only minor issue I have experienced is a bit of flushing within an hour of taking it. Usually due to me taking it on an empty stomach. If take it close to meal time - no problems.

I was put on Tecfidera over two years ago and I didn't realize how much it helped till I was off it for a week. My co-pay is OUTRAGEOUS but well worth it. Just make sure you figure out when the best time to eat with it is. I eat approximately 1 hour before and I don't have near the nausea, dry heaves or flushing.

Switching to Tecfidera (Dimethyl fumarate) for treating relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS) can be a significant change. Here are some key points to consider:

- Precautions: Take extra precautions against infections by washing hands frequently and avoiding those with spreadable infections. Consult your doctor before receiving any vaccinations.
- Common Side Effects: Skin issues (flushing, redness, itching, burning) and stomach problems (nausea, diarrhea, stomach pain, vomiting) are common but often decrease over time.
- Serious Side Effects: Seek immediate medical help if you experience trouble breathing, severe dizziness, rash, or swelling of the face, tongue, and throat.
- Dosage: Typically, you start with a lower dose (120 mg twice a day for seven days) and then increase to the maintenance dose (240 mg twice a day). Some patients may benefit from a slower titration schedule.
- Effectiveness: In a two-year study, Tecfidera reduced the risk of relapse by 49% compared to a placebo.
- Immune System Impact: Tecfidera modulates the immune system and decreases the number of lymphocytes, which may increase the risk of infections.

Always follow your doctor's instructions and discuss any concerns or side effects you experience.

I took tecfidera for 8 months and had way to many issues with it. Was taking Rebif for over 8 years and was tired of feeling like a pin cushion. But having serious hair loss, stomach issues and a few more made me go back to Rebif. Everyone has a different reaction to medication and I know all reactions are based on the individual so it could be a good option. I know taking a pill twice a day was better than doing injections. Currently taking Ocrevus treatments which are definitely easier to deal with.
