I’ve been woken at night by my left leg tightening/tensing for about 15 seconds then involuntarily flexing out, it happens nearly every 1/2 hr. This is a first, am I right in thinking this is a spasm? Anyone know why this would happen in my sleep? All my symptoms are on my right side, apart from this. Some symptoms don’t bother me too much, but this is scary. I take 40mg amitriptyline at night.
I also get leg spasms in the night or even when resting I don’t always notice myself but my husband tells
Me as I make him jump! I asked neurologist about this his reply was “yep this is normal for people with MS” not very helpful but he said it’s very common, I’ve just learnt to live with it 😐
Hi C17, I get spasms in my right foot but I take baclofen to stop it either 1 or 2 tabs. I don't know if that would stop a leg spasm.
I’ve been sleeping better lately, my amitriptyline dose was increased, so I don’t think it’s down to lack of sleep. At first I thought it was spasticity, but reading up on it, I think it’s a spasm. Not sure if you’ve had any babies, but it feels like a contraction, then my leg jerks out. Hope your sleep improves x
Try baclofen it might calm it down
Oh Yeah. For sure. These are horrendously painful. I used to get them quite regularly in my calves and arches of my feet. Would wake up screaming. It has been happening less and less the past couple of years. Not sure exactly what has helped since I've changed so much over that period of time, but definitely switching to a more holistic lifestyle has helped to better manage all of my MS symptoms. Hope you find relief that works for you soon! XX
