Members responded in large numbers to the question about extreme stress before an MS diagnosis, with nearly everyone confirming that prolonged, severe stress played a major role in their lives before and around the time they were diagnosed. Several members shared deeply personal stories including house fires, toxic relationships, job burnout, grief, and childhood trauma, with many noting that stress continues to worsen their symptoms today. A recurring theme was the importance of finding ways to manage stress through exercise, prayer, meditation, writing, and leaning on supportive relationships.

Absolutely yes!!!! I was under tremendous daily stress for about three years. Stress coming from every direction in my life. It was truly unbearable. I told a friend the situations and the people that caused that stress finally broke me.

Yes, the last ten years have been a hell of stress. Things are actually easier now I've been diagnosed with MS (on some levels) because some responsibility has been taken off my shoulders. I was probably already sick and didn't know it though, making the stress seem worse (although I've really been through a lot).

I read that extreme grief is common in MS patients (in our histories).

I think stress was indeed quite high which led to my first official relapse which led to my diagnosis of Ms in late July 2017. Turns out do to the amount of lesions on my brain & my spinal tap results, my neurologist says he believes I've had Ms for sometime.

Stress has become my middle name. Sometimes I have a combo tea of camomile and linden and it helps me to calm down. But most of the time I pray and let God help me.
It is hard to handle MS because every day something else is going on and sometimes is hard to know if it is because MS or something else.
Be strong and take one day at the time.
