I am looking for information from those with MS, most specifically Relapsing Remitting. Do temperature and/or humidity levels affect how you feel. I'm still in the learning process and would like to know if you feel better with higher humidity or lower humidity? What about temperature, does cold make your MS worse or better, and what about heat, over 80 F? I do realize we are all different, but, this has me curious. So far I seem to do best in moderate heat, i.e., 70-80 F, and better in lower… read more
The cold seems to help me. The climate, snow, etc. Some people it doesn't, with more connective tissue illnesses additionally like arthritis, etc.
I have RRMS too and I track how I do with different weather, amongst other things. For me, I can actually handle pretty good heat (100*+) as long as humidity is low. Humidity for me is the real killer and I go downhill quickly. I do find that it takes me a while with each change of the seasons for my body to adjust. So for example, I struggle a lot in the spring and early summer when temps start to get into the 80's. But by mid summer I can handle it better and 80* feels almost cold! I have found that those transitions between seasons are my most vulnerable and when symptoms flare, (it's also the time of year I've had my two big MS incidents) so I try to up my self-care during those times. I do get cold very easily in winter - we get down to the teens so not too cold, but cold for California! - but I find the cold doesn't cause as many issues as the heat so I just bundle up in my fleece long underwear and cuddle with my pups! I love our Nest thermostat. SO easy to manage different areas of the house through an app on my phone. My happy place is 68* - we are getting solar installed next month to help with our summer cooling bill! XX
My body temperature is really screwy !!
I can’t take real heat (which sux since I live in Tx). So I pretty much stay inside.
I also can’t take the cold !!
If the barometric pressure changes, if some puts the a/c on near me, my body aches so badly!!!!
Inside my house it has to stay around 73 degrees.
Hot temperatures make my skin tingle all over and sometimes I pass out. Cold temps make me shiver uncontrollably. Not sure if that's MS, or just because I'm a Floridian lol
In the heat of the day it started to get to me, I used to love getting a tan in the sun. For me the less humidity the better :)
