It could be a case of having muscle spasms in the muscles surrounding the spinal area and the delayed signal sent to your nerves makes your legs do the opposite to what you want them to do.

NZRick, me too! I lower back and even hips, get worse the further I get into the day. And then walking is worse too, but every thing is hooked together 😃

I get a lot of lower back pain though usually gets worse as the day gets longer. My meds say lower back pain is a side effect but I think it is more me using those muscles to compensate so get tired/sore faster.

I have horrible back pain. My MS specialist sent me to a rheumatologist. They did bloodwork and said that I did not have RA. Doctor asked if I had seen my back and neck x-rays. I said that I had not. Doctor stated that I had osteoarthritis and that my x-rays are terrible. Doctor told me that I did not develop osteoarthritis because Of the MS but that I developed osteoarthritis because I have MS. Crazy. Apparently, MS attacks weakened parts of your body.
