Hello everyone; has anyone experienced nerve pain that is not constant yet is like a shock every 15 to 25 seconds? I have nerve pain that runs from my right side abdomen, think the area around your liver and gallbladder, that runs down my leg and into the top of my foot. As the shock goes down the muscles also tense, and now they have been activated and contracted so much they are causing a limp and it’s painful to walk.
I’m trying yoga and stretching to counteract these forces however but the… read more
Ive had that type of pain for 23 years..for me, it never goes away, but it doesnt spike terribly too often. Best thing ive found to help is medical marijuana when it gets bad.
My ongoing symptoms are more similar to what others have shared except that last month I had them like you describe from lower back all the way to the base of my spine and down into my thighs. It was horrendous and incapacitating, not to mention scary, so I'm really sorry you are experiencing this. There's hope though I think because it has now receded. What I did? I significantly upped my CBD dosage (to about 40mg 2x/day) and my baclofen (up to 2 a day instead of just 1 at night) - and I go to PT 2/wk and so I mentioned it to them - so we worked on loosening all the butt and lower back muscles and it really helped! I loved the periformis stretch the most (there are videos on youtube for several different ways to do it) - I would hold it for 2 min each leg and that really relieved the tension and started reducing the jolting spasms immediately. Also laying with your butt against a wall and one leg up the wall at a time works well (but it worked best after the periformis stretch). I also told my acupuncturist and cranialsacral therapist and they focused their attention on reducing inflammation and pain in those areas. 3 weeks later it stopped. I hope the same will be true for you!! Rooting for ya! XX
Not sure exactly how to post an update to a question, but after working with other healthcare professionals (physiotherapist more specifically) he sent me for an ultrasound to find out if anything else was going on, and they found a small fatty deposit which is compressing the nerve causing all of my discomfort. So it appears that what I’m experiencing is not MS at all, And hopefully this fatty deposit called a lipoma can be removed. I feel frustration and relief. Frustration that my neurologist and family doctor didn’t order this very simple test two years ago, and that it took a physiotherapist to actually listen to me when I told him what was going on, and relief that this isn’t MS progression.
Lesson learned, even though we have MS we are susceptible to other things and don’t ever assume that what you are experiencing is as a result of our already existing medical condition.
Keep fighting everyone! Be your own health advocate.
Mine is about the same...every 15 to 20 seconds, all day, every day. Im so used to it now that i hardly notice it unless it skipes in intensity
I have nerve pain I used to have the shocking pain you are talking about until I started taking Lyrica and the shocking pretty much stopped, I have a little from time to time. I still have pain every day and I take methadone for that it helps enough so I can get through the day. I will be praying that you can get the help you need hope you have a good day, God bless...
