> I will be careful of the juice diet.

Oh no, I don't regret it -- I liked it.

I did the juice fast thing as a "radical start" to both lose weight and change my diet to healthier eating. It was quite successful for that! The fact that it changed my taste-palette was an added *bonus.*

> Sorry your pastry wasn't what ypu wanted it to be. Did you gain your tatse back for stuff like eventually?

Americans have a warped taste palette. In general we eat more processed food that many other advanced countries and the food corporations "teach" us to like/crave sugar by adding sugars to processed food.

We see this all over. Go to most any country in Europe and taste their chocolates -- quite different from American-made chocolate (ours has more sugar/sweetness).

Me being unable to detect something that was "too sweet" was abnormal -- people aren't supposed to be like that! Like I said, when I first read that claim I thought it was foodie hype/BS. So I was *glad* to discover it was true.

It's possible to "regain" that abnormal sweet-taste thing just be once again eating tons of sweets. I never regained mine, basically because part of my diet changes cut out sugar. Sugar is bad for us MSers, as one doctor put it, "sugar is poison to the brain."

However, since that time MS has taken out my entire sense of taste. It now varies between not being able to taste things and having a poor ability to taste things. But that was MS and had nothing to do with juicing or sugar.

> Just got a juicer,

What type? I have both a high-speed centrifugal juicer and a masticating juicer for wheat grass and other tough things. Sorry, no books, but a juicing story. I went through a big juicing phase.

Once I did a 10-day "juice fast." Reading up on this before I did it, I read a bunch of nonsense about how a juice fast would change your taste buds and do all sorts of crunchy-good things. Foodie propaganda, I thought.

So I did my juice fast, part of an overall diet reset.

Afterwards I decided to treat myself one day, so I bought one of my favorite pastries, an eau claire.

Before my juice fast I had heard people talk about things that were "too sweet." I chuckled at the concept. Things could be sweet or very sweet, but saying something was too sweet was just hyperbole -- exaggerated nonsense.

But as I ate my eau claire, it was just friggin' *gross* -- sickeningly disgusting! It was so distasteful I couldn't eat it and threw it away.

I now completely understood what the foodies meant by resetting a person's taste palette. That wasn't propaganda, that was just fact. That 10-day juice fast did that to me.

One thing I'd caution you is to avoid too much fruit. Modern nutrition science is increasingly wondering if too much fruit is good for us.

MS specialists are pretty convinced about is that too much sugar is bad for MSers (with fruit obviously having much sugar). One doctor I remember reading bluntly said that "sugar is poison to the brain."

Our bodies requires glucose (we'll manufacture it if we don't have enough!) but other types of sugar we do not need. Be careful about using too much fruit in juices.
