Have so many symptoms. All point to MS. GP sent me for 1st MRI. Validate how I feel. Neuro said need several positives to diagnose. Spine did not have lesions. Dr. Said to find someone that could help me. I don't know what to do. My symptoms are real. I have to start over? Has anyone been told you need several positives to diagnose.? I fear getting worse.
Unfortunately there are many conditions out there you can acquire, not just MS. Diagnosis usually takes a while because of having to rule everything else out.
If you look up Mitochondrial diseases you'll see a world of stuff you also don't want to have.
The neurologist you saw, does he/she specialize in MS? If not you might need to find one that does. Not everyone with MS gets lesions on their spine. It seems odd a neurologist would tell you to find someone else that could help you especially when your brain is involved. An MS neurologist usually wants to see multiple relapses before diagnosing MS. I went 6 months with a "possibly MS" diagnosis and it was driving me crazy. I finally said that I wanted to know. I was sent for a spinal tap (lumbar puncture) which confirmed it. I wasn't happy with the diagnosis, but happy to finally know what I had so that I could start fighting it. I hope this helps you decide how to move forward. All the best!
