Adderall

A MyMSTeam Member asked a question 💭
NYC, NY

I’ve been taking Adderall for my ADHD , and my MS cognitive processing issues for a decade and I’ve never seen it prescribed nor delivered in a capsule.
It comes in tablet form - I live in NYC. It would be appreciated if this article/blog is corrected so patients aren’t confused.

Description of Adderall- from the MSSociety website

Description

Dextroamphetamine and amphetamine is a central nervous system stimulant. It is used off-label in MS for fatigue or to improve mental alertness for those with slowed processing, sometimes referred to as “cognitive fog.”

FDA Indication: Attention deficit hyperactive disorder and narcolepsy

Hope that helps

Glad you’ve advocated fir yourself!!!
I’m so sorry that the first neurologist said it could cause seizures and also with people who have MS! Did you see a neuro-psychiatrist for a medication like Adderall or Ritalin … it’s important to get medical advice and a trusted specialist
but I was informed that if you have MS but don’t have consistent cognitive issues- like executive processing, impulsivity, focusing issue’s on reading as I’ve had since my grade school days and it’s gotten worse
Do some searching if you feel it’s something to look for with your MS - we’re all so different with our symptoms

I saw one neurologist before the one I have now I asked him about adderal because it's supposed to give you a little pep but he said it could cause seizures in people and Ms but I didn't like him I walked out to the desk I said I want my file I don't want to ever see him again.
Because I've had Ms since I was 14 and I'm 69 I think I'm kind of educated on what medication except not the adderal I even asked about some medication to walk better never got an answer
