When I was first diagnosed I was on short term disability through my work for 4 months - I went back to work full time after that for 6 months with no issues but my job was fully aware of everything that was happening and every accommodation was made for me to be successful (stand up motorized desk, leaving me in my same workspace with no stairs, close to rest room and no expectations to go inside the hospital for meetings or any new responsibilities that would expose me to anything because of my dmt and weakened immune system). After 4 months I was sent home to work permanent remote on March 19, 2019 because of COVID. I have been in my home office working every day since and it has been a Godsend for me. I haven't missed a day unless I was on vacation and my MS has really benefited from this situation. I hope the same for you! Take good care of yourself ♥️

I did, and it changed to long term disability after 3 months…Im in Canada, so it may be different where you are.

Short term is for up to 3-6 months. After 6 months, you apply for long term disability.

I've been on it for 20 years. im looking for a job that will hire me. Due to the medications many places don't hire. DO NOT STOP YOUR MEDS, NO MATTER WHAT. it's not worth losing your sight or not being able to walk. take it from me. IT'S NOT WORTH IT. stay real close to your doctor. you will have your answers. the hardest part is getting disability, once you have it, then you know, that you have it. they have a formula that tells them what you're making and at the least you will have MEDICARE as your secondary insurance. just stay on top of your Dr. visits and with disability.
