Is it normal to have a burning sensation on your face like your sunburn but you're not or like you put your hand in jalapeno juice then touch your face all over

Well, I get burning feelings that are from nerve pain all over my body from MS. I also started having burning in my hands, lips, face and ears off and on called erythromelalgia. It causes redness, minor swelling and feels warm to the touch. Also, can be caused by MS. Are you taking anything for nerve pain management? Like Gabapentin? I still get the pain but if I remember to take the medication, the pain is manageable.

I’m on gabapentin and cymbalta. Maybe you need to talk to your Dr and see about either uping your dosage or switching meds/adding a new medication to help with the nerve pain. All the best to you! Hugs!

Burning sensations on the face in people with multiple sclerosis (MS) can be caused by several factors:

- Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN): This condition involves damage to the trigeminal nerve, which can lead to extreme facial pain, burning sensations, or sensitivity. TN is more common in people with MS due to demyelination, where the myelin sheath protecting the nerves is damaged.
- Medications: Side effects of certain MS treatments, like dimethyl fumarate (Tecfidera), can include red, warm, or burning skin.
- Abnormal Sensations: MS can cause unusual sensations, such as burning, in any body area, which might feel warm to the touch.

For managing these symptoms, consider:
- Medications: Various medications for nerve pain might help.
- Therapy: Talking to a therapist can help manage the emotional impact.
- Surgery: Procedures like glycerol injections or gamma-knife radiosurgery might provide relief.

Always consult with a neurologist to determine the best treatment options for your specific needs.
