I started taking Fampyra (Ampyra in the US) in May 2022 and there was an immediate dramatic improvement in my balance an walking BUT have had 8 UTI infections since then.

A UTI is a known side effect. Has anyone experienced this? What do you do?

I don’t want to stop taking a drug that is helping me walk.

After several attempts of various antibiotics, I finally was able to recover from a two year series of UTIs with Nitrofurantoin. You may want to ask your urologist about this medication. Good luck!

Yes, get some cranberry supplement pills and take one twice a day everyday. It helps cut down on the UTI's

I take Ampyra and never equated it with getting UTI’s. I do get a lot of them, but since I added the supplement D-Mannose, I have really cut down on the amount of UTI’s that I have got. I take it twice a day, and I take the one that is 500 mg. No, I don’t think it is Ampyra, because I have been taking it for years and the UTI’s have only been a recent problem. I am not sure why they might have started like in the last 3 years, but my urologist is not happy and she threatens me to put me on round the clock antibiotics, which I dread because I have Candida in my digestive tract and antibiotics will just make that horribly worse. I just try to be so careful about diet and hygiene.
