Has anyone had Botox injections in their legs to help with the stiffness? What is the outcome? How long does it take to take affect? I currently am taking ampyra which helps, but I need more thank you questions like what is the duration it takes to kick in, how long does it last or does it make it worse? Thank you again
Thank you for your response. I live in the United States so Ampyra is available to me in generic form. It has been a game changer for me. I have an appointment this Friday with my physicians assistant, as my doctor left the practice :-( anyway, so my question was going to be to her And just wanted some feedback from the forum. I just don’t want to get worse with the if I do get the injections. Thanks again I’ll add you to my favorite people list. :-) The last visit she put me on baclofen I had nightmares so I discontinued it on my own because I do need my rest and I didn’t feel it helped the spasticity stiffness.
Hello
I have Botox injections into my right thigh to help with spasticity. I think it does help a bit with the stiffness but it doesn't go away completely. I have had two injections so far and I am due for a third soon. The gaps between the injection are quite long - over 4 months as there is a waiting list. I think it might be more effective if I had them more regularly but it doesn't make it worse. I also take tizanidine and Sativex daily which also help - I can really notice a deterioration in my walking if I miss a dose of either. The Botox takes a few days to work but like all these treatments it is difficult to judge how effective it is I suppose it depends on your expectations. I have not tried ampyra as it is not available on the NHS although I am interested in knowing how effective people find it.
