Hi all, I'm in the process of being diagnosed. Everyone seems to think MS is the answer to my last 7 years. I need assistance or advice. I have had a burning sensation in the back of my neck next to the little knot on the base of my neck where it meets my spine. Its a burning sensation that sometimes has pins and needles. Over the past few days the sensation is now going downwards a little down my spine and over my right shoulder. They started me on baclofen last week and it seems to work for… read more

No. You will never be considered a cry baby. MS isn’t for sissies. You have been through enough, without adding to MS, to prove your toughness. Hang tight. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you all very much for answering. I'm still waiting on the MRI and still waiting to see a neurologist :( I'm still burning but now the burning is in my neck, shoulder and hip. All on the right side. They've upped the bac to 3 times a day but I can't take it during work hours. They are recommending disability but since I have to have a hysterectomy soon for possible cancer I'm trying to hold on and work as many days as I can. If I take it in late afternoon and nap for a couple of hours that seems to be helping. I took 4 days off hoping that would help but nope I still burn. :( thank you all. This is so new to me. I've dealt with pain for decades but whew wee this is kicking my butt. I actually complain about pain now and I never did that before. I just dealt with it. Now I'm almost a complaining cry baby lol thank you all I appreciate you taking the time to reply to me.

Mid June I started with what I have labeled a fresh new level of hell. It started with the bottom of my feet and the inside of my eyelids. It feels like walking barefoot on hot tar. When it first started I kept checking the bottom of my feet for blisters. Over a week it spread to other parts of my body and I could feel it inside and out as if I were being broiled alive. The neurologist that serves as my MS doctor said that it was a flare and prescribed 3 high dose steroid infusions. That cleared up most of it. The bottom of my feet and the inside of my eyelids are a constant issue. Last week the neurologist said that I was not recovered from the flare and ordered 6 weeks of bed rest. He warned that if I didn’t rest until I was recovered that it could cause a relapse making the symptoms return and possibly get worse or spur a new flare.

Until the beginning of this year I saw a neurologist that was a specialist in MS. Sadly she moved to another state. She was amazing and whenever I would report a new weird thing to her often if it lasted for at least 3 days she would prescribe a round of prednisone. That always worked. Perhaps your primary will prescribe prednisone for you?

Welcome Amy! I'm sorry your feeling that way, but such odd feelings are *common* with MS. Often they come and go. Sometimes they can be dealt with by exercise (strangely enough), diet, increasing fluids or other simple measures while other times things like Gabapentin can be prescribed for such nerve pain.

It's weird, a *lot* of MS is "trial and error" in that we the patient can figure out something that can alleviate the symptoms -- but by all means you should be keeping your doctor(s) informed.
