It's going to sound silly, but playing a simple word game on my smart phone has really helped with my memory/cognitive decline. Also, admitting there's an issue helped me in that I was much more cognizant of the issues and could plan ways to combat problems. I started playing the Wordscapes app on my phone. It helps me with recall. In the game, you try to think of words 3 to 7 letters in length, so smaller words but it helps with recall. That lead to me noticing my cognitive function lasts longer each day. I can even tell when I crap out at night because I can't recall actors names or the name of that thing I should remember but that's late in the day
