Sometimes I get these crazy swallowing issues where I feel like I'm either swallowing my tongue, or my gag reflex is slightly initiated while swallowing, or both.
I have esophageal spasms that are very painful. Nothing helps them go away. It feels like a Charlie horse in your throat and you just have to wait until it goes away. Nothing helps ease the spasm. You cannot drink it away although it feels like something is slowly dragging in your throat. I chew thoroughly and it can happen even when drinking. I am told it is a rare condition. I also have Gerd. It"s extremely painful.
Yes I can choke on anything at any time . I have stopped having food when I’m out just because I’m worried about it happening
It was suggested to me that if food ot pills feels stuck to drop head forward half way. It relaxes muscles and reduces gag. So you can restart.
Just yesterday, I read that swallowing (maybe pills) with your head tilted down may help. I haven't tried this myself, but I will experiment. My head is always back because I feel that straightens the course for my h2o & pills. I too do what @A MyMSTeam Member does and patiently wait for the exact RIGHT time to swallow.
That's affirmative, seems many of us have swallowing issues. I've had so many dilations I lost count.
