Many community members responded to the question about MS flares that mimic stroke symptoms, with most sharing that they had experienced sudden weakness, numbness, slurred speech, or facial drooping that turned out to be MS exacerbations rather than strokes. Several members described long diagnostic journeys where doctors initially suspected strokes, TIAs, epilepsy, or even depression before an MRI confirmed MS, with one member sharing a frustrating experience of being dismissed due to a PTSD diagnosis. A recurring theme was the fear and relief tied to these episodes, along with encouragement to seek thorough testing, and a deep appreciation for the community's support.

This journey of this happening over and over has been very difficult. I am 70 and not searching anymore for answers accept the answers my body give me. Loving it no matter what it has to tell me any given day. Hugs to everyone who are experiencing this detrimental symptom.

I know right. The neurologist and hospitalist demanded that I see a psychiatrist because I have PTSD and they claimed that depression can cause all of the symptoms I was having which is a bunch of crap. The psychiatrist talked to me for about 10 minutes and told them that major Depression was definitely not the problem. Then they did the MRI and said that that it was an MS flair. It was not a good experience. I’m sick of going through the hysterical female crap because I have PTSD! It has really impeded my treatment.
